Sennheiser HD280 Pro DJ HeadphonesGerman technology is synonymous with matchless excellence all over the world. And so, if it is German technology that’s behind a pair of headphones, you can be sure that they will not disappoint you! The Sennheiser HD280 Pro Closed DJ headphones are an epitome of German technological prowess and can be useful in your career as a DJ. These headphones are specifically designed for professional monitoring applications and are perhaps one of the best professional headphones currently available. If you want to find out whether these headphones are the ones you have always been looking for, keep reading.

The two most important things about these headphones are:

1. They have a closed back. Closed back headphones allow you to closely listen to what’s playing, even in an environment which is rather noisy. As a DJ, you may have to play in bustling clubs and other gigs where the decibel level is quite high. So, a closed back headphone allows you to listen to your music, over the din around you. This is absolutely necessary to monitor what music you are playing to the crowd.

2. They are circum-aural headphones. This means that they have ear pads which completely surround your ears and fit snugly on your head. You should understand that only circum-aural headphones can give you a quality of music reproduction that comes anywhere close to what you can get from a full range speaker set. Because you are using them for a professional purpose, it is important that you listen to the music created by you or others, without distortions or reduction in quality.

The combination of these two factors is what makes the Sennheiser HD280 Pro Closed DJ headphones, stand out prominently. Moreover the 32dB external sound attenuation makes for a perfect audio experience in the noisiest of environments.

These headphones are a classic combination of rugged yet stylish design features and high degree of sensitivity, which makes even the weak audio-outs on synthesizers roar to life. Boasting of a frequency response from 8Hz to 25 kHz, you have a winner on your hands (or head!). The collapsible ear pads are easy to fold and make the headphones really portable too.

So, what do real world users have to say about the sound reproduction on Sennheiser HD280 Pro Closed DJ headphones? Here is a brief look:

  • These headphones are meant for studio work. The bass is tight and fast, the midrange rich and the treble clear and precise.
  • Loud volumes or earsplitting volumes, this headphone can provide unmatched output at all volumes.
  • The sound is as good as what you record, so if it isn’t sounding right, check what you have created! In fact, using these headphones can reveal all about the source quality of the music.
  • Sennheiser HD280 Pro Closed DJ headphones can be yours for $80 from any of the major online retailers. If it’s pro headphones you are looking for, these are certainly worth your attention!

Not a bad set of headphones, not amazing though – the sound quality is pretty good but they don’t feel as “solid” as some other headphones. I had them when I was starting out, and I still have a pair knocking about somewhere that I’ll use every so often, but you’ll want to move onto bigger and better things soon enough.
